WITH THESIS

ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The objective of Electronics Engineering Master Program is to educate engineers with Master of Science Degree who are able to create scientific solutions for the problems of industry and thus contribute to science and technology. Our program enables the engineers to be specialized in an area, to profess at a higher level, and provides graduate students with the opportunity of being evaluated distinctively in a competitive environment. Two Master Programs (with thesis and without thesis) are carried out by a valuable academic staff out of the working hours. The program offers career opportunities in conformity with the recent scientific and technological advances. Subjects of the theses and projects are chosen so as to canalize the business lives of our students.

For that purpose, Electronics Engineering Graduate Program of T.C. Maltepe University composes of two Master Programs (with thesis and without thesis). Students registered to graduate program with thesis are obliged to prepare a master’s thesis after completing courses of 60 ECTS.

MISSION

To educate engineers who can solve problems by scientific methods in the field of electronics engineering and thus who can contribute to science and technology.

VİSION

To contribute science, technology and economy in the field of electronics engineering by educating engineers, by making research and university-industry cooperation.

ACQUIRED DEGREE

Students, who successfully complete the program, are entitled to master’s degree (Master of Science).

ACQUIRED LEVEL OF QUALIFICATION

It is a program that provides graduate education.

RULES AND REGULATIONS OF THE PROGRAM

Students studying master's with thesis are required:

· To take 7 courses (21 local credits) and enroll in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis, and complete 120 ECTS. (The Seminar course and Master’s thesis do not have local credit and are assessed with a pass or fail).

· To get at least a grade of DD in order to be successful in each course of the program,

· To have 2.50 general average grade out of 4.00 on the core subjects, and are to be successful in the Seminar course and Master’s thesis defense.

DESCRIPTION OF PRIOR KNOWLEDGE

The graduate students at Maltepe University may be exempt from some courses within the framework of certain regulations. If course content from another institution is appropriate and relevant to the one in Maltepe University, the course content would be approved by the relevant committee, so that the students may be exempted from this course.

Students applied to the program, who graduated from other programs, are accepted to scientific preparation program to eliminate their deficiencies with the offer of interview jury and the head of department, and with the approval of administrative board of graduate school.

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Electronics engineering graduate program aims to provide individuals, who completed undergraduate program in electrical and electronics engineering or in other disciplines meeting the registration requirements, with skills and competences for creating innovative solutions to national and global problems in the field of electronics engineering and the related disciplines by using the acquired knowledge based on theoretical and practical research.

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE OF GRADUATES

There are job opportunities in public establishments and private sector, in the departments such as research and development, production, test, quality control, marketing, operation, and maintenance and repair, in the areas such as electronics, microelectronics, microprocessor based control systems, communications, electric machines; electric power generation, transmission and distribution.

TRANSFER TO A HIGHER STAGE

Graduate students of this program may apply to study in doctoral programs.

PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Electronics Engineering Master Program (with thesis) of Graduate School of Science and Engineering is organized as 21 local credits and 120 ECTS.

Electronics Engineering Master Program (with thesis) of Graduate School of Science and Engineering consists of 1 compulsory Seminar course without credit, 6 elective courses and master’s thesis of 60 ECTS. Elective courses can be taken from courses of the relevant program or from courses of the other programs. Maximum two of them can also be taken from courses of undergraduate programs.

EXAMS, EVALUATION AND GRADING

Instructors evaluate each registered student by taking quiz, mid-term exam and final exam results, and the studies that substitute exams into consideration. As a result of the evaluation, s/he appreciates one of the grades below as the student's final grade.

AA, BA, BB, CB and CC mean that the course has been completed successfully. DC and DD grades show that the course has been completed successfully providing that the student has fulfilled the requirements depending on grade average point which was specified in the regulations. Grade F shows that the student has been unsuccessful. Even if the grade average point of a student who has got an F grade is enough to be considered as successful, this course is retaken.

 

Special condition of students in a course is shown with the letters below:

BI (successful)

Student has succeeded in a course without credit or in one that is not included in the average.

BZ (unsuccessful)

Student has been unsuccessful in a course without credit or in one that is not included in the average.

EK (incomplete)

In a condition of incompleteness resulting from the student, the instructor takes valid excuses into consideration and wants that student to compensate those imperfections. Providing that the imperfections are not compensated maximum in two weeks after passing grades are announced, the mark of incomplete, changes to an F grade.

ÇK (dropped)

Student has dropped the course.

DZ (unattended)

Student has not fulfilled attendance requirements. (Absenteeism is regarded as an F grade while the averages are calculated)

MU (exempt)

Student has been exempted according to these regulations.

TK (retaken)

The course has been retaken due to failure.

İZ (permitted)

Student is permitted according to regulations

TF (transfer)

Equivalent courses which the student took and succeeded in other higher education institutions, in another institute or in the previous program and which have been recognized in the current undergraduate transfer program.

ÖZ

Student has the status of special student.

 

Successful Students

Students are regarded as successful according to their General Average Grade. In order to be admitted as successful, students have to have 2.50 General Average Grade in a Master's program.

Students who graduate from their departments or complete their programs with 3.50-4.00 General Average Grade are appreciated as University high honor students and they are on the list of University Honor Students List.
